Police have arrested a 14-year-old boy, identified as MS, on charges of murder and robbery in Bojonggede regency, Bogor, said Depok Police chief, Sr. Comr. Mulyadi Kaharni, on Thursday.
“We are still interrogating the suspect,” he said after a meeting at Jakarta Police headquarters in Central Jakarta, as quoted by tempo.co.
The boy, along with four friends, allegedly murdered 50-year-old Jordan Raturomon and his son, 22-year-old Edward Raturomon, in their home at midnight on Wednesday, afterwards stealing a motorcycle, jewelry and Rp 10 million (US$1,060) in cash.
According to police accounts, the group had originally intended to rob the family’s home, but when the two victims caught them in the act, the group attacked them with an axe, killing them both.
“MS is the prime suspect,” said an investigator.
Police have also arrested three others suspects, namely Dado, 20; Kasman, 25; and Pepen, 35, while the fourth suspect, Andi, has fled and is being sought by police.
Pepen revealed to police that the crime had been initiated by MS, as he owed Rp 25 million to the Raturomon family.
Police confiscated a motorcycle used by the group, while the stolen motorcycle has yet to be found.
On Wednesday, Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said Jordan’s wife had been missing since the incident occurred.
