The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was scheduled to question on Friday the president director of car manufacturer PT Toyota Astra Motors, Johny Darmawan Danusasmita, as a witness in a graft case surrounding the construction of Kubangsari port in Cilegon, West Java.
“Johny Darmawan will be questioned as a witness,” acting KPK spokesperson, Priharsa Nugraha, said on Friday at the KPK headquarters in Jakarta.
However, up until 1:30 p.m., Johny had yet to arrive at the KPK building.
Johny said he had not received the KPK’s summons. “I didn’t know [about the summons]. Neither did I receive a letter from the KPK. I was not involved in the Kubangsari case,” he said in a telephone interview.
The antigraft commission is investigating alleged corruption in the project’s tender, which caused nearly Rp 11 billion (US$1.16 million) in state losses. The KPK has questioned several witnesses, including Krakatau Steel president director Fazwar Bujang, and has named former Cilegon mayor, Tubagus A’at Syafaat, as a suspect in the case. (iwa)
