The Bogor District Court has convicted a 17-year-old boy of killing a member of the local branch of the Islam Defenders Front (FPI) in May.

The boy, Bogor resident Ival Reza Yulian Mahendra, was sentenced to three-and-half years’ imprisonment for fatal assault under Article 351 of the Criminal Code (KUHP), presiding judge Sakilah said on Tuesday while reading the verdict.

The law must be upheld and should be indiscriminate. If law enforcers are selectively making decisions, this will not give a deterrent effect to the accused.
