JAKARTA: Publicly listed property company PT Bumi Serpong Damai, part of property group Sinar Mas Land, booked Rp 2.05 trillion (US$217.3 million) in overall sales (including pre-sales) in the first semester of 2012, or 44 percent of this year’s target of Rp 4.2 trillion.

BSD City, a flagship project of the group, dominated the sales with 77 percent. The remainder came from Kota Wisata Cibubur with 6 percent; Taman Permata Buana, 6 percent; Grand Wisata Bekasi, 5 percent; and other projects, according to the press release sent by BSD on Monday.

The residential segment contributed 66 percent to the company’s sales. It grew more than sixfold to Rp 101.47 billion between January and June 2012, Bumi Serpong director and corporate secretary Hermawan Wijaya said in the press release.

Meanwhile, the land plots segment rose by 24 percent to Rp 530.49 billion in the first semester of this year. It accounted for 26 percent of sales.

Hermawan attributed the growth to the booming economy, low inflation and the higher spending ability of middle-class households.
