AKARTA: The chairman of the Association of Recreation and Public Entertainment Business Owners (PPRHU), Adrian Mailete, said on Tuesday that entertainment business owners would obey the restrictions the Jakarta Police have imposed during Ramadhan.
“If we find any entertainment spot that violates the restrictions, we will act firmly. We will send a letter to the Jakarta Culture and Tourism Agency recommending that they close down the place,” Adrian told reporters.
He also urged all mass organizations not to conduct their own raids.
“The public, including the mass organizations, must not resort to vigilantism. They don’t have the right to restrict our operating hours. If they find an entertainment spot that violates the restrictions, they must report it to the police,” Adrian said.
Separately, Jakarta Police deputy chief Brig. Gen. Suhardi Alius reaffirmed the police’s stance of banning vigilante raids by mass organizations during Ramadhan.
The tourism agency said earlier this month that it would ban nightlife and entertainment venues from operating during Ramadhan, starting from the eve of the fasting month until one day after Idul Fitri, including nightclubs, spas, saunas, massage parlors, arcade game centers and bars.
Some spots, however, may still open with restrictions, such as karaoke and live music lounges as well as pool halls.
