The happiness of fasting can be felt only by a person who observes it with the whole heart just for the will of Allah Rabbul Izzat. Ramadhan is the month of continuous mercy and blessings.
Fasting is type of prayer that brings one closer to the Almighty Allah and by fasting we are restricted to food, water and the charms of duniya (world).
It’s a restriction for a period and the Almighty Allah is so generous that He has kept only a few hours for fasting, so that one cannot remain hungry for day and night.
Things are normal once we break the fast. We can enjoy food of our choice or liquid and so on.
Similarly, Allah has made it compulsory for every Muslim to fast in the month of Ramadhan. If we leave it out for no specific reason then we would be punished for that.
Fasting protects us from all un-Islamic things. Ramadhan is a month of blessings and mercy.
A man observing fasting should avoid sexual relations with his wife and should not behave foolishly and impudently. If somebody fights with him or abuses him, he should tell him twice, “I am fasting.”
The Prophet added, “By him in whose hands my soul is, the smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. [Allah says about the fasting person], ‘He has left his food, drink and desires for My sake’.”
“The fast is for Me. So I will reward [the fasting person] for it and the reward of good deeds will be multiplied 10 times.”
