The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned on Wednesday the president director of car manufacturer PT Toyota Astra Motors, Johny Darmawan Danusasmita, as a witness in a graft case surrounding the construction of Kubangsari port in Cilegon, West Java.

The KPK investigators asked the Toyota Astra executive about the sale of a luxury sedan, which was allegedly given as a gift to former Cilegon mayor, Tubagus A’at Syafaat.

Tubagus has been named a suspect in the case.

“They wanted to clarify information about the indirect purchase of the car,” Johnny said as quoted by tempo.co.

Johnny, however, denied suggestions that the KPK questioning was related to the graft case involving Tubagus.

“You should know better who the car was for,” he said.

The antigraft commission is investigating alleged corruption in the project’s tender, which caused nearly Rp 11 billion (US$1.16 million) in state losses. The KPK has questioned several witnesses, including Krakatau Steel president director Fazwar Bujang.
