Comment: Shooting in Colorado

A- A A+

Paper Edition | Page: 8

July 24, p. 7

The recent mass killing in a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado has left sane people stunned, shaking their heads in shock and sorrow. People once again find themselves wondering what America is coming to, while devoutly religious folks perhaps muse on the matter with more dire predictions about the fate of America and its cultural bearings. (By Peter Andrew, Denpasar, Bali)

Your comments:

Mass killings in the US have long been a feature of its society. First, you have the right to bear arms — it’s sanctioned by the US constitution; and second, the people in the US live by example.

Ever since its inception, the US government has always tried to settle its differences with other nations by using guns and weapons.

It is no wonder then that people in the US simply copycat what their government has been doing all along. It shouldn’t surprise anyone I suppose, instead we should expect that these mass killings won’t stop any time soon...
