A New Zealand citizen, Scott Warwick Ramsay, 41, was found dead hanging by a strap in a hotel bathroom in Buleleng regency, Bali in the early hours of Sunday.
Around 1:30 a.m., his brother-in-law, Douglas Stuart Barlett, found Ramsay with backpack strap tied around his neck that was attached to a shower in the Taman Sari hotel, Pemuteran village, Gerokgak district.
Barlett, who shared a room with the victim, immediately reported the accident to the hotel staff.
Buleleng Police took Ramsay’s remains to Buleleng Hospital for an autopsy.
“The victim died due to suicide, we found no evidence of violence on his body,” said Buleleng Police operational chief Comr. Ida Bagus Putu Wedanajati after the autopsy, as reported by Antara news agency.
Ramsay, who worked as a school director in New Zealand, reportedly ended his life after suffering from depression brought on by his recent divorce. (yps)
