As many as 5,780 personnel from the police and the Indonesian Military (TNI) in South and West Sulawesi will be dispatched to maintain order during the Idul Fitri exodus in the two provinces.
The police have opened 141 police posts, in areas prone to accidents and robbery.
“The police are ready to help smooth the Idul Fitri exodus, but it’s the awareness and carefulness of people which are most important. We call on citizens to remain cautious,” South Sulawesi police chief Insp. Gen. Mudji Waluyo said on Friday.
The police will also take preventive measures on drug usage by inspecting truck drivers and employees at inter-island transportation ports.
