A badly burned body of an unidentified man was found in a garbage bin in Namu Bintang, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra on Thursday.

A scavenger discovered the body at around 8:30 a.m. before reporting the finding to the Namu Bintang village head, Ridwan Sinulingga.

Ridwan said the man’s hands had been tied behind his back and his mouth gagged. Some scratches were also found on his neck.

The victim’s identity remained unknown, said Pancur Batu Police precinct chief, Comr. Darwin Sitepu.

“The victim might have been killed somewhere else before being dumped and burned in the bin,” said Darwin.

“So far, we have no clear lead in the case. We are still trying to reveal the identity of the victim,” he said, adding that the body had been taken to Adam Malik Hospital in Medan for an autopsy.
