The Jakarta office of state railway company PT KAI is taking preventive measures against ticket scalpers and beefing up security during the Idul Fitri exodus.

“We have arrested more than 100 ticket scalpers in raids since January and, in order to enhance security during the holiday, we will deploy a joint team of police and station security guards to patrol railroad stations,” spokesman Mateta Rijalulhaq said as quoted by tribunnews.com on Friday.

At least 750 officers will guard the city’s major rail terminals, namely Central Jakarta’s Gambir, Senen and Tanah Abang stations, West Jakarta’s Kota station and North Jakarta’s Tanjung Priok station.

Mateta added that beyond Idul Fitri, starting on Sept. 1, every passenger would be required to check in prior to departure. If the name written on a ticket was different to the holder’s identity card, he said, the ticket would be regarded as invalid.
