To commemorate International Youth Day, which falls on Aug. 12, a number of youth groups in Bali are holding movie days with the theme “Made in Indonesia”.
Bali’s youth activities will be part of the National Youth activities held in 22 provinces across Indonesia. During the commemoration, 34 video and documentary films created by young people from 11 provinces will be screened simultaneously nationwide.
In Bali, the video and film screening will be held at Sanggar Anak Tangguh (Tough Children’s Community), in Banjar Wangbung in Sukawati, Gianyar regency on Aug. 12.
Anak Tangguh’s youth also produced a video entitled Karya Kita Bersama (Our Work Together), one of the 34 videos to be screened across Indonesia.
The video screening is being jointly organized by Sanggar Anak Tangguh and Yayasan Kampung Halaman (Hometown Foundation), based in Yogyakarta.
Ima Puspita Sari, coordinator of Jalan Remaja (Youth Road) 1208, said the Youth Road movement was established in 2009 to create a network connecting young people all over Indonesia. “The young people are encouraged to document their activities and share them with their fellow teenagers across the country,” Ima said.
