Four people were injured in Depok after an unlicensed teenage boy, driving his parents’ minivan, crashed into a motorist and pedestrians.

Depok Police traffic accident chief Adj. Comr. Supriyono said on Friday the incident occurred on Jl. Ir. H. Juanda in Sukmajaya on Thursday afternoon. One of the victims suffered severe injuries.

“The 16-year-old was apparently angry with his parents, who planned to enroll him in an Islamic boarding school. He took off with a Toyota Kijang from their house in Kemiri Muka,” Supriyono said, as quoted by kompas.com.

The police officer said the teenager crashed into a group of pedestrians as he fled a previous collision with a motorcyclist. The boy was beaten by local residents after the crash.
