A 70-year-old retired soldier, Suratman Sailah, was found dead after he had allegedly hung himself at the University of Indonesia’s campus in Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Saturday.
A scavenger, Sarjono, found Suratman’s body at around 7 a.m. hanging to the campus’ gate with a black plastic rope. Suratman’s hands held onto the gate, according to the Jagakarsa Police Precinct.
Suratman was believed to be a resident of Gg. Mawar II, Srengseng Sawah.
Even though the police did not find indications of assault, they decided to take the body to the Fatmawati Hospital for a visum et repertum examination, kompas.com reported. (swd)
