Six dead in car accident in C. Java

Six people died and six were injured in a pile up involving a bus and two minivans on Saturday in Kendal, Central Java.
The casualties, identified as Taskia, Agung Hariyadi, Surani, Rusyanto, Alin Tiastiani and Sugiyono, were passengers one of the minivans en route to Solo, Central Java.
The accident occurred after the driver of a Garuda Mas bus en route from Semarang to Kendal lost control while taking a sharp turn on Jl. Kaliwungu. The bus crashed through the road separator and into the two minivans traveling in the opposite direction.
The injured victims were taken to the Tugu hospital in Semarang for medical treatment, while the bus driver, identified as Budi, was taken to the Kendal Police headquarters, kompas.com reported.
Most Indonesian Muslims are traveling to their hometowns this weekend to gather with families, as the Idul Fitri holidays is expected to fall on Sunday and Monday. Holiday travel season is expected to peak on Friday and Saturday. (swd)
