Taman Safari worker mauled to death by tiger
A janitor at the Taman Safari Indonesia zoo in Cisarua, Bogor, West Java, identified as Junaedi, 32, was mauled to death by a tiger on Friday.
According to Cisarua criminal investigations division chief Adj. Comr. Iwan Wahyudin, Junaedi was busy trimming grass in the Sumatran tiger compound when the incident occurred. Junaedi was not aware that the adult Sumatran tiger was stalking him.
The tiger suddenly attacked Junaedi, who died instantly at the scene with wounds to his head, hands and legs.
“We have taken the body to his house,” Iwan said as quoted by tempo.co.
Iwan added that the police were investigating the case.
Zoo spokesman Yulius confirmed the incident.
“Yes, there was such an incident,” Yulius said, declining to elaborate on the details. (swd)
