The Surabaya Corruption Court has set the trial schedules of three former East Java regents, Ahmadi of Mojokerto, Ratna Ani Lestari of Banyuwangi and Mafuk of Lamongan.

An official with the court said that the three former officials would stand trial soon after the Idul Fitri holidays.

Ahmadi has been charged with graft for ordering an official of the regional asset management agency to disburse Rp 35 billion (US$315,000) without going through formal procedures.

“We should have gone to trial this Thursday but it was too close to the long holiday,” said Suhadak, one of the court clerks.

Ratna, meanwhile, was charged with graft related to the procurement of land for a new airport that allegedly caused state losses of Rp 19 billion.

Masfuk stands accused of having used Rp 4 billion from a land acquisition project financed out of the 2003 local budget for personal purposes.
