Actress Dian Sastrowardoyo says she is grateful for having had Gadis Arivia, noted feminist and founder of Jurnal Perempuan publishing, as her lecturer during her time at the University of Indonesia (UI).
She said that during her studies with Gadis, she became more aware of trafficking — an issue for which she recently became more involved after she became the ambassador of MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking).
“In one of our classes, we were told to write a paper about human trafficking … I am very grateful to have had Gadis Arivia as a lecturer,” Dian said.
Dian narrated a documentary about trafficking titled Enslaved: An MTV EXIT Special. She said the documentary featured stories of victims of human trafficking.
