Jambi Police arrested two men, Kusnadi and Yono, for their alleged involvement in the armed robbery of the Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) Muarabulian branch office on Aug. 15 in Bajubang district in Batanghari, Jambi.

Kusnadi was the driver while Yono played a role as a connector in the robbery, which netted Rp 2 billion (US$210,000).

On the morning of Aug. 15, a Kijang Innova car carrying the money was stopped by a group of people when passing Purwosari hamlet in Bajubang.

The Jambi Police criminal investigations directorate chief Sr. Comr. Wira Wijaya said Kusnadi and Yono were caught in Muarabulian, while the two other suspects, S and B, were still on the run with the money. “Our team is still searching for them and their hideout,” said Wira on Thursday.

Wira added that his team would send the FN bullets fired by the robbers in the incident to the Palembang forensic laboratory in South Sumatra.

The robbers apparently committed their crime with ease, as the car was left unguarded. Two of the people in the car sustained wounds after being shot by the robbers.
