Another diving fatality in Crystal Bay

Another foreign diver has died following a dive in Crystal Bay, Nusa Penida, Klungkung regency, Bali, on Tuesday, a day after a Japanese tourist was found dead in the same area, police have reported.

A Danish businessman, Hendrik Kent Jensen, 43, did not resurface after about an hour of a dive with his two friends, identified as Susana and Thillo.

According to Nusa Penida precinct commander Comr. I Wayan Sarjana, Jensen was found by his friends on the seabed after he had apparently passed out.

“When they examined [Jensen] on the boat, he was no longer breathing. They later rushed Jensen to a public health center,” Sarjana said at the Sanglah Hospital as quoted by Antara news agency.

However, Jensen died on the way and was taken directly to Sanglah hospital.

According to witnesses, Jensen was an advanced diver.

The police have yet to determine the cause of Jensen’s death.

A Japanese tourist, Ai Tanaka, 34, was found dead at a depth of 43 meters on Monday evening after she was declared missing on Sunday, she had failed to resurface along with the party of 13 Malaysians who were diving with her. (swd)
