North Jakarta Education sub-agency will investigate an elementary school teacher at SDN Tugu Utara 23 Pagi in Koja, North Jakarta, who allegedly abused the students.

“We will meet with the principal in the next few days. If we find the teacher guilty, we will give him warning and consider other sanctions,” the sub-agency’s head Dian Hardian said as quoted by beritajakarta.com on Tuesday.

Dozens of third-grade students had said that they were afraid to go to school because one of the teachers, identify as R, often abused the students. One of the students, SM, had been absent from the class for two days because he was afraid that R would hurt him.

SM said that the teacher pinched him on the thigh when he forgot to bring his science book. The next day, R hit him on the head with a book because he failed to answer a question during math class.

Another student, A, said that he once got slapped, and his textbook was torn.

SM parents said that they could not accept what the teacher had done to the students. “I hope the school deals with the matter appropriately. I don’t want R to teach the class anymore.”
