Comment: Depok imposes fee on newcomers

S

strong>Sept. 3, p. 1

Ilham Saputra, 25, can finally relax as he is now an official Depok resident after paying Rp 100,000 (US$10.49) to have his previous identity card from Bima, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), changed.

He can now fulfill the administrative requirements that require a local ID card to open a bank account and get a driver’s license.

Your comments:

It is good for Depok and it is good also for the new comers. Rp 1.1 million (US$115) is good amount of revenue for the city. Hopefully, since corruption is being monitored, the cash can go to a good purpose for Depok people.

Hopefully, citizen of Depok and other regions do not have to pay bribes to get service for regent officials.

Corruption and bribery must stop if Indonesia is to develop further. It is disgusting to see all corruption happening in the country.
