Hundreds of Indonesian Military (TNI) troops and members of the TNI family association FKPPI joined Tangerang City residents to help water operator PDAM Tirta Benteng dredge a dam sluice of the Cisadane River in Neglasari district on Thursday.

“The volume of water from the Cisadane River has continued to decline in recent months because of the prolonged drought. The clean water production of PDAM has been affected by this condition,” Tirta Benteng president director Marju Kodri said.

He said sedimentation at Cisadane Dam was hampering the flow of water from the dam.

Tangerang Military District commander Lt. Col. Dani Wardani said that he would deploy troops to help dredge several other rivers in Tangerang in the near future to ensure clean water distribution.
