n a glittering award ceremony at Gran Melia, which had a touch of both sports and glamour, Australian cricketing legends Tom Moody and Damien Martyn gave away the prizes to the winners and best performers of the 2011-2012 JCA championship season.

WISCI Wanderers were awarded the trophy for winning the League Championship, APC United the winner of the T20 Tournament while GMIS CC and Ceylon shared the International Sixes trophy.

In the individual category, best batsman and best bowler awards were bagged by Neetesh Pansare and Anil Yadav respectively, while best wicket keeper was shared by Srikanth and Hanan.

Govind Sodani was awarded the “Player of the Season” award and Lucky Kusuma the “Young Indonesian Player of the Season” prize.

Donning a white suit, Master of Ceremonies Wilfred Schultz was at his best in engaging Moody and Martyn in an open discussion with the audience.

The duo was even better in handling all manner of questions that were thrown at them — some were played with a straight bat and others ducked. The ceremony on Saturday also featured a fashion show where the models wore in cricketing gear. Moody was even asked to give a two minute coaching session on batting to one of the volunteer models.

“We have come a long way since the days when just a handful of clubs played cricket in Jakarta to a total of 17 clubs now. We are also proud of promoting cricket in Indonesia by encouraging the young Indonesian players,” JCA President Suresh Subramanian said.
