Brig. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar: National Police spokesman. (Tribunnews.com)Brig. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar: National Police spokesman. (Tribunnews.com)National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar revealed on Monday that the suspected terrorist Muhammad Thoriq, was planning to detonate the bombs that were prepared in Tambora, West Jakarta and Depok, West Java, for terror attacks on Monday.

“The attacks were aimed at the Mobile Brigade Command Headquarters detention center (Mako Brimob), Salemba police station, Densus 88 office and Buddhist society, which was related to the Rohingya,” Boy told reporters on Monday.

Boy said that suspected bomb-maker Muhammad Thoriq, who surrendered himself to the police on Sunday, was planning to detonate the bomb himself.

“It is true that he was one of the ‘brides’,” Boy said, referring to a suicide bomber.

The term “bride” is often used by terrorists, because they believe that if they die on a suicide mission, they will be picked up by angels whom they will marry and live with happily ever after.

Boy said that Thoriq was one of the suspects that ran away from Depok after the bomb was accidentally detonated.

Along with the explosives and weapons, the police also found a letter that was addressed to the mother, the wife and the children of Thoriq in Depok.

“Thoriq’s letter says that he is looking for Allah,” Boy said. (nad/iwa)
