A game that highlights the achievements of incumbent Fauzi “Foke” Bowo appeared on the Internet on Wednesday, one month after a game portraying Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as the hero of Jakarta circulated online.

A website dedicated to Fauzi, bangfauzi.com, introduced the game entitled Bersatu Jakarta (Jakarta Unite) which features the governor’s programs like the MRT, education and health subsidies and the city’s East Flood Canal.

“We try to show Bapak [Fauzi]’s achievements [in those three fields],” website coordinator Anis Fuad Hasyim said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Kahfi Siregar, a spokesman for the Fauzi campaign team, said the game could “educate the youth on what the governor has done for the city”.

“The game is different from Jokowi’s game. It offers an original concept, unlike Jokowi’s game, which was adopted from the Angry Birds game,” Kahfi told The Jakarta Post Digital.

Jokowi’s game, entitled Selamatkan Jakarta (Save Jakarta), depicts the Surakarta mayor as a hero who throws bombs and rockets at corrupt officials and gang members.

The game, which can be accessed through Facebook or at www.metric-design.com/game.swf, has attracted more than 500,000 users since its launch, said Budi Purnomo Karjodihardjo of Jokowi’s campaign team.

“It’s good that we’re competing in something meaningful like games,” he told the Post when asked about the Foke-themed game. (yps/lfr)
