Government to fund terrorist rehabilitation program

The government is preparing state funds to rehabilitate terrorist convicts at a special training facility, National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) head Ansya’ad Mbai said.

“The training facility will be located in Sentul,” Ansya’ad told reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Ansya’ad added that as of now, there were around 200 convicted terrorists who were set to be rehabilitated within the facility.

“We are going to train them to leave their terrorist past behind them and not resort to such acts in the future,” he said.

Ansya’ad refused, however, to reveal the amount of funding needed for the training program.(iwa)
