Cambodian authorities have arrested 114 Indonesians for their alleged involvement in online gambling, an Indonesian official said Thursday night.

Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Suhardjono Sastromihardjo said the Indonesians were caught red-handed while they were conducting online soccer gambling in a rented house in Phnom Penh.

“They managed their gambling via computers,” he said as quoted by kompas.com.

Suhardhono said the Indonesian nationals, were now being detained at Phnom Penh immigration and were comprised of 90 men and 24 women.

Suhardjono hoped that the Cambodian authority deported the detained Indonesians immediately.

“Currently, [the case] is being processed. [We] are still waiting for a boss who hired them.” Suhardjono said, citing that the gambling boss was reportedly in Hongkong. (yps/lfr)
