Your comments on the results of the recent survey, finding that 60
million male Indonesians, or 34.8 percent of the adult male population
in the country, are regular smokers:
This figure means nothing to me. You can remind smokers about the effects of smoking or close the factories and forbid the existence of tobacco plantations.
What the government should do is protect non-smokers by consistently enforcing regulation.

You want to smoke?
Go ahead, but don’t exhale, ever! Keep the smoke in you so you keep the environment clean.

People love to smoke not only in Indonesia, but also around the world.
Everyone knows that smoking is not good for your health, but they still do it because they say it can ease stress, make you more confident and so forth.
From my observations, I find that in many urban areas, smoking is prohibited in high buildings, buses and others places. It creates awareness that smoking is not good for your health.
But in smaller cities, the ban is not common and community awareness is still lacking.
In the future, the number of smokers will decline but it will not completely vanish.

I think that this is one of the causes of the economic bubble in Indonesia.
A lot of people in this country get rich because of the tobacco industry as a result of cigarette tax, hospital fees and cigarette company profit.

No wonder ... that is the reason why the government is targeting a revenue increase from an excise tax in the 2013 state budget.

Though I am a non-smoker, I respect the rights of those who smoke by choice and who love to smoke (my father was one of them, and no, he didn’t pass away because of lung problems!). I very much enjoy the lovely
fragrance of quality pipe tobacco and the expression on the faces of pipe-smokers, who usually emanate an air of intense peace and satisfaction as they enjoy the rich aroma of the tobacco.
The Dutch have a well-known saying: Een tevreden roker is geen onruststoker (a satisfied smoker is no mischief-maker).

President Yudhoyono has called on Muslims to exercise retrain over a film made in the US, Innocence of Muslims, that provoked Muslims in Libya to attack the US Consulate in Benghazhi. What is your opinion?
