The Attorney General’s Office says it will summon the officials in charge of two foreign men who escaped after they were sentenced to prison for counterfeiting.

Mzyece Isililo, 19, from Zambia and Mickelson Inzagi Joe, 29, from Mozambique, fled on Wednesday night after the South Jakarta Court sentenced the men to three years’ imprisonment for their crimes.

Deputy Attorney General Darmono said on Friday that he would ask for a full report about how the convicts escaped, Antara news agency reported.

“There will be sanctions for negligence while on duty,” Darmono said. Those responsible for the escape might be fired.

The chief of the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office, Masyhudi, said the case was under investigation.

“We will investigate why the convicts were not handcuffed on the way from the court to the Salemba Penitentiary,” Masyhudi said.

Masyhudi said that he did not think that the men had left the country.
