The government is working on forming a committee to help President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono accomplish his tasks as co-chair of the UN High Panel on the post-2015 Millennium Development Goals (MDG), an official said on Sunday.
The committee would contain the country's best MDGs experts as well as officials related to post-2015 development, Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, the head of the Presidential Working Unit for Supervision and Management of Development (UKP4), said.
“The committee will help the President compile thoughts and ideas in relation to the UN High Panel,” Kuntoro told The Jakarta Post.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Yudhoyono, alongside British Prime Minister David Cameron and Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, to co-chair the panel.
The forum has been tasked to advise on development after the MDGs expire in 2015 and draft the Sustainable Development Goals.(iwa)
