Actress Kimberly Ryder began her acting career in a soap opera before cruising her way on to the silver screen in 2008 with her role in the film Chika.
The actress, who has also starred in Get Married 3 and The Witness, got her first leading role in Nayato Fio Nuala’s film 18++ Forever Love, brushing shoulders with Adipati Dolken, another young actor.
The daughter of a British father, Nigel Ryder, and an Indonesian mother, Irvina, Ryder, recently appeared in Hanung Bramantyo’s Perahu Kertas (Paper Boat) where she played Wanda, a beautiful rich girl who is chasing a young painter.
“I think my next movie is also going to be directed by Nayato. I would like to become one of his favorites, so I can appear in his movies over and over again.
Currently, I am starring in a number of television movies, keeping up with school and promoting my latest movie, Perahu Kertas. My home schooling is online right now, so it allows me to organize a flexible learning schedule.
As I am very busy right now. I barely have any leisure time but I am happy when I am busy. When I am not filming, I am usually busy with homework or I sometimes go to the mall with my best friends. I usually go out with the same friends and sometimes I’ll just go to their houses.
Shopping? I am not really a shopping addict but I do love eating in the mall. On my 19th birthday, I went to Chili’s Grill and Bar in Sarinah on Jl. M.H Thamrin. They serve Mexican food and I love the nachos there. I like steak, pasta, pizza and Indomie. In fact, Indomie is the only thing I can cook.
Mostly though, I am a nerd and I like to stay at home. Sometimes I read books, watch movies, eat ice cream or just play on my iPad.
I have not been on holiday for a long time. If I ever get the chance, I would really like to go to California, especially Hollywood. I haven’t ever been to America. If I went I hope I could meet someone famous and hot there!
My idols are Anne Hathaway because she was so cool in Batman [The Dark Night Rises], Emma Watson because she is British and Johnny Depp.
Johnny Depp is a very versatile actor in all of his movies. He can play anything from Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean to a vampire in Dark Shadows and Edward Scissorhands. He is so good.”
