JAKARTA: The panel of judges at Central Jakarta District Court decided on Tuesday to proceed with the case of murder suspect John Kei, rejecting the request made by his lawyers to dismiss the case due to a lack of evidence.

“The judges dismiss the defense statement made by the defendant and order the prosecutors to resume with the case examination,” presiding judge Supradja said at the hearing.

John was charged with the premeditated murder of businessman Tan Harry Tantono in a Central Jakarta hotel on Jan. 26.

The hearing was adjourned until Sept. 25 for witness examination.
