A new airport in Bungo regency, Jambi, is set to start operations soon, an official says.
Bungo regent Sudirman Zaini said that the Bungo airport, which would serve short-range flights, was set to begin operating in October.
“Officials from the Air Transportation Directorate General will inspect the airport next week,” Sudirman said, declining to mention the exact date.
The airport, which has a 1,500-meter long runway, will serve flights along the Bungo–Jambi and Bungo–Bengkulu routes using Cassa aircraft.
“The flights will depart twice a week,” he said.
Supporting equipment, including a fire truck, are expected to be ready soon. (swd)
