One of Indonesia’s main airports, the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, West Java, experienced a power outage that lasted almost one hour, on Monday afternoon.
The airport’s Terminal I and II were hit by the blackout at 3:04 p.m. after its electricity substation in Meruya, West Jakarta, caught fire.
The airport’s operator, PT Angkasa Pura II, turned on eight engine-generators at 3:09 p.m., and managed to restore power supply at the two terminals by 4:06 p.m.
The firm president director Tri S. Sunoko said that the power loss slightly affected activities in the airport, which handled 51.1 million people last year.
“Departures and arrivals have returned to normal,” he told tribunnews.com. (yps/swd)
