strong>JAKARTA: Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam arrived at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) headquarters on Monday to hand over recordings and other details from a 2008 Cabinet meeting that purportedly discussed the Bank Century bailout.
After a one-hour meeting with the KPK, Dipo said that he had given the recording to the KPK as requested by the House of Representatives.
“The House has asked for President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to hand over the recording but since the House is not a law enforcement agency, I’ve submitted the evidence to the KPK,” he said.
Dipo said that the KPK could use the recording for investigative purposes.
The Bank Century bailout once again became a hot issue following a statement from former KPK chairman Antasari Azhar, who claimed that Yudhoyono convened a meeting on Oct. 9, 2008 to discuss the bailout plan for Bank Century.
Antasari, currently incarcerated for an unrelated crime, said that he had warned Yudhoyono in the meeting about possible legal action if the administration broke the law to save the country from crisis.
