Jakarta Fire Agency and Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency, which represented Indonesia, won the International Civil Defense Skills Competition held in Singapore.

The agencies won four gold and three silver medals in the competition that was held on Sept. 5–12. The participating team members were Jumadi, Muhaman Setya, Herman Panjang and Rudy Wibowo, led by Eduard F. Souhoka and Saepuloh as the trainer.

The competition was joined by 11 countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Australia.

City Council deputy speaker Inggard Joshua said that just like the Jakarta team that became the overall champion at the 18th National Games in Pekanbaru, Riau, the winning team of firefighters should also receive a bonus for their achievement.

“The bonus would be a form of appreciation that could boost the spirit of other firefighters to perform to their best at similar competitions in the future,” Inggard said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
