Jewels of Eden All that glitters is not gold

oman and accessories are inseparable. Who doesn’t like a stylish accessory piece as an addition to any outfit? Whether you are drawn to big colorful wooden bangles or maybe bold silvery pieces, who can resist the charisma of sparkling rocks?

But here’s the deal. What if a woman wants to wear bling whenever she wants, without worrying that her dazzling stones may draw unwanted interest?

Artificial gemstones may do the trick.

It is natural for a woman to want show off accessories in the hot and humid summer season. The sexy look of a long-sleeve mini dress paired with neutral heels in the daylight will look a bit off without any bling. Hence, a dazzling ring on a finger or chandelier earrings should finish off the outfit nicely.

A sleek and glamorous black gown needs a flattering pendant or earrings to help the wearer light up the night.

Your dress is a cover-all? A classic ring with a rectangular princess-cut rock will be a decent ornament on your exposed fingers.

“To happen upon all of these possible options, there is Jewels of Eden, who create man-made jewelry that looks just like precious stones such as, diamonds, sapphires and rubies,” says Cipry Tjan, director of Jewels of Eden.

Cipry shares that all of the sparkling stone products at Jewels of Eden are made of simulated diamond, sapphire and ruby.

Cipry says that he uses semiprecious stones and simulated diamond, ruby and sapphire that are almost identical in color and characteristics to the real ones.

“To most eyes, they look just like the natural gemstones. But of course experts can still tell the different,” explains the founder of this company, established in 2005.

“The metal that we predominantly use is silver 925, the purest level of silver, as well as rhodium-plate that reduces tarnish,” explains Cipry.

Rhodium is a rare chemical element that is a member of the platinum group; it is silvery-white, hard and a chemically inert transition metal. “For some of our atelier products, we use real 18 carat white gold,” he adds.

Cipry shares that his simulated diamonds are made of cubic zirconia, a cubic crystalline form of zirconium dioxide that, once synthesized, is hard, optically flawless and usually colorless.

“We import cubic zirconia from the US and send them to our designers in Italy and France to be cut.

“We also apply extra coating on the rocks to avoid stains. They are indeed masterpieces,” shares Cipry, adding that he adds “D color” to his simulated diamonds, as it is regarded as the best color grade for diamonds across the world.

Jewels of Eden products are handmade and the company employs the same method of construction as the original jewelry, in fact, even the smallest details are meticulously replicated.

“They are handpicked, hand carved and hand polished by an expert and all the stones are set by hands, even the smallest ones,” said Cipry.

Jewels of Eden pieces are of various designs, ranging from simple single rock solitaire pieces to enchanting princess designs with lots of bling.

“There is no particular season in jewelry, so we have all possible designs ready,” he says referring to the many products available such as rings, bracelets, necklaces, pendants, earrings and brooches.

“Many designs feature shapes such as floral, animal, heart, round and teardrop as well as the everlasting princess-cut,” reveals Cipry, whose brand sponsored accessories for the Putri Indonesia and Miss Universe
beauty pageants during their tour in Indonesia from 2009 to 2011.

For Muslim woman’s fashion, Cipry loves to use semiprecious stones, less pricey gems, crystals and simulated
sapphires and rubies to bring more color to the overall look.

Cipry admits that 50 percent of his sales are rings. “Maybe it is because every woman can wear rings, whether they are brave enough to wear a lot of jewelry or shyer individuals who prefer the simpler designs.”

Floral shaped jewelry designs are very popular in Indonesia. “Our women love to be recognized as the Indonesian beauty persona, hence they opt for the floral.”

As the rocks are all artificial, there is no need to worry about wearing them any place, any time.

“Trust me, you will feel secure as you are not wearing jewelry that cost you hundreds of millions of rupiah,” said Cipry,
adding that his products are priced from Rp 500,000 (US$52) to Rp 35 million.

What is even better is that Jewels of Eden offer a lifetime warranty, which means that you can return to their stores, without time limitation, if your gems lose their luster.

In the name of love for beauty and perfection, Cipry dares to say that his collection “is better than diamonds”.

For Cipry, diamonds are not the best investment.

“The price will reduce if you sell it back and some stores won’t even purchase smooth diamonds,” he said.

“The range of our collection gives you a privilege that a diamond cannot offer”.

Dos and don’ts

Choosing and wearing jewelry is about being your self, says Cipry Tjan of Jewels of Eden.

Your choice of earrings, pendant, necklace, bracelet or ring can express who you are. So, whether you are a simple girl, a reserved lady or a glamorous diva, it is all about you. No single rule can controls your choice.

Despite the design, what you have to take in to account before choosing jewelry is your body:

1. If you have a rectangular face, like Natalie Portman or Gwyneth Paltrow, pick round-shaped earrings. Avoid any square models that will erase the strong look.

2. If you have a round face, like Kirsten Dunst, we suggested you wear earrings with an ellipse or teardrop shape to compliment your face type.

3. Ring choice is down to individual taste. 2012’s Indonesian Idol winner, Regina Ivanova, for example, has a curved body-type and usually, women of this type prefer rings with big rocks. But Regina actually prefers the solitaire style — a ring with a single and rather tiny rock. So it is totally your call.

4. For necklaces, match them to your outfit. A colorful or detailed dress would suit a solitaire pendant, while a simple dress is a perfect match for a princess-like necklace with specific details.

5. When selecting the color of your jewelry, dark skinned ladies can choose bright colors like red, orange or yellow and as for the fair skinned ones, you can enjoy the sparkle of white bling or diamonds.
