(Kompas Images/ Roderick Adrian Mozes) Incumbent Governor Fauzi Bowo gave Jakarta's incoming governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo a small tour of the premises when the latter visited City Hall in Central Jakarta on Friday.
Jokowi and Fauzi both wore brown Batik shirts, shook hands and smiled to journalists when they met at 1:15 p.m.
After having a closed door meeting, Fauzi then asked Jokowi on a tour of the governor’s office, introducing the room that will be occupied by Jokowi during the next five years.
“Let me be a tour guide for them,” Fauzi said, referring to Jokowi and incoming deputy governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, who joined them later, as quoted by tempo.co.id.
Fauzi explained the functions of each room and showed them pictures of all former Jakarta governors in one of the building's meeting rooms.
After the tour, they headed to a big meeting hall on the second floor where Jokowi and Basuki introduced themselves to Jakarta administration officials for the first time.
Jokowi and Basuki will be inaugurated as Jakarta governor and deputy governor next week, a change from the previous plan on Oct.7, due to unfinished paperwork. (cor/iwa)
