SMA 70 student suspects named

Jakarta Police have released the names of six SMA 70 students on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in a student brawl that fatally killed SMA 6 student, Alawy Yusianto Putra, in Bulungan South Jakarta.
According to Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto the suspects, identified as MI, 17; RK, 16; GA, 17; FA, 16; HS, 17; JE, 17, would be charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code on group assault with a maximum punishment of 5 years in jail.
All suspects were found possessing bamboo sticks and sickles during the clash, Rikwanto said.
“One of the suspects, HS, could also be charged under the 12/1951 Emergency Law on firearms and explosives for possession of the sharp weapon that was used to kill Alawy,” Rikwanto said on Tuesday.
Rikwanto added that the police had not yet detained the suspects, but they were required to report to the police twice a week until the case is brought to court.
The brawl between the neighboring schools took place on Sept. 23. when a group of SMA 70 Students, armed with sickles and bamboo sticks, attacked around 15 SMA 6 students who were having lunch near SMA 70.
The Police named Fitra as a suspect following the fatal assault. He faces 15 years’ imprisonment if found guilty of murder. (nad/iwa)
