ational flag carrier Garuda Indonesia recently signed a new codeshare agreement with United Arab Emirates’ national airline Etihad Airways.
Garuda Indonesia CEO Emirsyah Satar signed the agreement with his Etihad counterpart James Hogan on Oct. 18 in Doha.
Under the mutual partnership, which takes effect on Oct. 28, 2012, Etihad will place its “EY” code on Garuda’s services between Jakarta and Denpasar, and Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur.
Garuda, after regulatory approval, will also place its “GA” code on Etihad’s flights from Jakarta to up to 31 destinations in the Gulf Cooperation Council, Levant, Africa, Europe and North America. The codeshare went on sale on Oct. 18 for flights dated from Oct. 28, 2012.
