3 die in S. Lampung village clash

Three died and several others were injured in a clash between two villages in South Lampung regency on Sunday.

The clash reportedly broke out after men from Sidoreno hamlet, Way Panji district, teased two young women from neighboring Agom hamlet, Kalianda district.

The incident resulted in hundreds of Kalianda residents attacking Way Panji and burning down several houses.

South Lampung Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Tatar Nugroho confirmed the incident on Sunday afternoon, Antara news wire reported.

The identities of the three dead victims have not yet been released.

Currently, more than 2,000 police officers, marines and soldiers are safeguarding the border between the two hamlets. (iwa)
