Graft suspect Neneng Sri Wahyuni faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment should she be proven guilty of joint corruption causing Rp 3.8 billion (US$395,118) of state loses.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors read the indictment against Neneng to the Corruption Court in Jakarta on Thursday.
“The defendant should be declared guilty of corruption carried out individually or jointly with Muhammad Nazaruddin, Marisi Martondang, Mindo Rosalina Manulang, Arifin Ahmad and Timas Ginting, in a solar-power equipment procurement scandal at the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry” prosecutor Burhanudin read out, as reported by kompas.com.
Neneng, he went on, had violated the law by interfering in the tender process of the project by asking Timas Ginting, a senior official at the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry to favor her company PT Alfindo Nuratama Perkasa. The company won the contract when in fact it lacked the technical ability to carry out the procurement of solar-power equipment for Tulang Bawang, Ogan Ilir, Banyuasin and Ogan Komering Ulu Timur regencies in Sumatra.
Timas, who was sentenced to two years imprisonment for his role in the case, authorized the contract for PT Alfindo Nuratama Perkasa in 2008 to carry out the Rp 8.9 billion project, which the company then sub-contracted to a third party for only Rp 5.2 billion.(iwa)
