The panel of judges at the North Jakarta District Court on Tuesday sentenced Joshua Raynaldo Radja Gah to a four-year prison term for his involvement in the group assault that killed Navy first seaman Arifin Siri.
Presiding judge Harsono said during the verdict that Joshua, 21, had violated article 170 of the Criminal Code on fatal assault.
“He has been found guilty and should serve four years imprisonment,” he said.
Joshua's lawyer Slamet Yuono said that his client would file a plea against the sentence.
“Even if he was sentenced to only one day in jail, we would file a plea,” he said, as quoted by kompas.com.

Joshua, who was a member of a motorcycle gang was among several people who physically assaulted Arifin on Jl. Benyamin Sueb in Kemayoran, North Jakarta, on March 31.
The a motorcycle gang was trying to assault a truck driver when Arifin and his friend, on a motorcycle together, saw the altercation. Arifin tried to stop the assault but the biker gang attacked him instead. (cor/lfr)
