Selasar Sunaryo Art Space proudly presents two solo projects from two young artists in their biennial art event, “Selasar Solo Project Series”. Artist Muhammad Akbar presents Tatapan (Tidak Terlihat) (Gaze (Unseen)), while artist Akiq A.W. showcases Lima Cerita dari Rumah (Five Stories from Home). Akbar shares a collection of video and video installations that discuss subjects and objects in various positions. He sees the action of looking as a way to convey hegemony and domination. Akiq’s project is displayed in the form of a series of photographs about life in Parangtritis, Yogyakarta. Family is the core of his works, which combine archive and documentary pictures. The exhibition is being held at the Selasar Sunaryo Art on Jl. Bukit Pakar Timur No. 100 in Bandung, West Java, and will run until Jan. 6. For more information, please visit selasarsunaryo.com or call +62 22 2507939.

Architecture

Are you looking for inspiration for green buildings? The architectural exhibition at Dutch cultural center Erasmus Huis in South Jakarta may provide with you some ideas about sustainable architectural designs. The traveling exhibition, “Architecture of Consequence”, is presented by the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI). Recent designs and some selected works from NAI’s collection of the 18th and 20th century designs will be available. The works will portray the designers’ concerts about water management, urban expansion and mass housing. The exhibition, which will run until Dec. 28, will present the works of a number of architects, including Piet Blom, Van den Broek en Bakema, John Habraken and Anne Holtrop. Handicraft

The treasure lays right here, around the archipelagic country of Indonesia. Artist Made Wianta captures the natural resources that have been a huge source of economic support for many in the country and expresses them in his latest series of works entitled “Treasure Islands”. He draws inspiration from the process of making barong, which includes materials such as raw buffalo leather, mirrors and nails. The exhibition is not only a form of artistic expression, but also a reminder of the harmful consequences of mining natural resources that endangers civilians, ecosystems and creates conflict. The exhibition runs from Dec. 15 to Jan.15 at Gaya Art Space on Jl. Raya Sayan in Ubud, Bali. For more information, please visit gayafusion.com or call +62 (0)361 979252.
