he South Tangerang municipal administration is planning to build 10 community health centers (Puskesmas) and supporting facilities next year. “The South Tangerang Legislative Council has approved
a budget allocation to build 10 health centers in 2013, but we are still looking for the right locations,” South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany said at a seminar at the Open University (UT) in Pondok Cabe, Pamulang, on Wednesday.
Airin said the municipal administration was trying to acquire plots of land already earmarked for public and social facilities in seven districts across the municipality for the 10 health centers.
She added that South Tangerang now had only 25 community health centers, most of which were short of doctors and medical specialists.
The municipality has asked the Health Ministry and the Banten province to provide assistance with the operation of the health centers.
