URAKARTA: The Surakarta administration has pledged to optimize the implementation of Bylaw No 2/2008 on the equality of people with different abilities — or difable as they are more popularly called — as part of making the municipality an inclusive city.
The bylaw, among other things, stipulates that all companies and offices in the region are obliged to recruit one difable individual for every 100 employees they employ. They are also required to provide easy access for this particular group of society both physically and in terms of service.
“But the implementation up to the end of 2012 was not yet optimal,” Mayor FX Hadi Rudyatmo — or Rudy as he is commonly called – said in Surakarta, Central Java, on Friday.
