early lead in election

A quick count by five survey institutes for South Sulawesi provincial election on Tuesday has revealed that incumbent Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo and Agus Arifin Numang are beating their rivals in the poll.
The quick count from the five institutes -- the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI), Indobarometer, the Indonesian Sound Network (JSI), the Adhyaksa Reporting and Celebes Research Center (CRC) -- show that Syahrul and Agus have grabbed 52 to 53 percent of the vote, followed by Ilham Arief Sirajuddin and Abdul Aziz Qahhar Mudzakkar with 41 to 42 percent, while Andi Rudiyanto Asapa and Andi Nawir Pasinringi are coming last with 5 to 6 percent.
The CRC, meanwhile, reported that voter turnout was 70 percent of the total 7.2 million registered voters in the province. (han)
