Sriwijaya Air to open new
route from Jambi to Medan

The budget airline Sriwijaya Air is launching a new domestic route serving Jambi to Medan via Batam starting next month.

Head of Sultan Thaha Airport in Jambi, Dorma Manalu, said on Wednesday the Transportation Ministry offered airline companies operating in the province the opportunity to open the new route.

“It will depart at 10 a.m. from Jambi to Batam and continue its flight to Medan. It will arrive back in Jambi at 2 p.m.,” he said.

The route from Jambi to Medan will begin to serve customers from Feb.1.

Dorma said the airport’s facilities were already sufficient to accommodate the anticipated increase in passenger and aircraft traffic enabled by the addition of the new route.

“We are ready even if there will be more new domestic routes from Jambi to other destinations. The facilities are sufficient. The airport’s flight schedule is also not too tight,” he said. (ebf)
